John Fleck with Annie Sprinkle This past weekend was the Performance Art Festival "What is Now" at Works gallery in San Jose in celebration of their 25th anniversary. The sold out headliner for Friday night's performance was Annie Sprinkle - a very interesting lady. She has led an amazing life and is so open and sharing about it. Saturday evening was Raquel Salinas and John Fleck each performing. Sheila did all the tech work - lit the shows, ran the lights and all the sound that each of the performers needed. I took a few pics from Saturday.
Images from one of the vignettes in Raquel Salinas' piece Shots from John Fleck's performance Friday's performance was more a lecture about Annie's life and experience as a sex worker, porn star and performance artist. She showed videos, slides and did an interpretive breast ballet. She ended the evening doing tit prints and tons of people bought them. The money raised was donated to a woman's shelter. She created vignettes that brought us through the time of the native land through being an illegal immigrant to farm work and piece shop work to modern experiences. The work was beautiful and at times disturbing and very moving. He was hysterical and semi manic. Most of the pics are from his piece. [google search on John Fleck]
