the rest of the portraits we shot at sheila and rose's birthday celebration. for me, this was a step into shooting people. overall the lighting was a little low so the exposures were long and there are some instances of blurring and movement, but I think they came out ok and make a nice series.

sheila's birthday is today—happy birthday little sister—and last night we celebrated with cake and presents (because parents were heading out to go home today). in the presents were some odd figures—the cowgirl and the goat. i leave the storyline up to you folks to figure out.

today is Sheila and Rose's birthday. i made a cake and there was bowling action yesterday evening - much tamer than last year.

I just let my little sister tattoo me. How is that for trust? This is my first. Yikes, I am a wimp. I complained the whole time.

Sheila's installation piece: Dick Hungry Whore : is currently up and installed as part of the Gen Art SF's 4th annual exhibition of Technology Based work by Bay Area emerging artists. The overall show is pretty interesting and runs for a month. Go see it! We attended the opening reception on Thursday and I shot some photos of her installation as well as some of the other exhibits.

My sister has launched her website. Some sections are still in progress, but it promises to be pretty cool and a unique experience. The site showcases her photography, video and installation work.

A few pictures from Sheila's thesis show and her opening reception. The turnout was great and the work was well received. Some thought it controversial and walked out but most stayed and listened to the interviews, watched the videos through their entire loop and interact with the crowd at the reception. Afterwards about ten of us went out for dinner. Congratulations little sister!

Riding behind my sister on the way to her Graduate Thesis show opening. She is clad in leather and rocks! I rode on the back of the Harley the day before - my first time - and although I was scared, I kind of liked it.

Today is Sheila's birthday. My BABY sister turns 35. Big bash this evening. Pics will be posted soon.

Sheila's pre-thesis show was this past week. We busted butt last weekend helping her get ready. I designed her postcard and posters. The reception was a hit - tons of people coming into the gallery. Well - see for yourself.

Sheila (my sister) had an opening this week. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, it was obviously postponed. She ended up opening on Wednesday and I shot the gallery space and her performance.

I am always amazed at her work - a combination of really interesting visual, beautiful lighting and always some sort of sound. There was a blend of music going on in the space. The paintings were 4x4 and created the floor, while the small oranges that were tattooed seemed small and somewhat insignificant next to the rich and luscious paintings. In the center of the space, Sheila was tattooing herself (for real) surrounded by a group of onlookers. The squeamish could watch from outside the gallery, as there were 4 video surveillance cameras set up.

I was very impressed with the "experience" and think in some ways, what she does is more experience design than what I do. Check out her site.
