Halloween :: 10.31.04 |
:: friends : |
Had a few people over for a Halloween party—watching Rocky Horror Picture Show projected large outside—and fundraising for the Leukemia Society. We sold some raffle tickets - the drawing is next Saturday, a variety of prizes. Some great costumes, most of which I forgot to photograph, but I did manage to snap a couple of pics. Notice a theme here? A lot of wig action going on.

all the portraits :: 01.19.04 |
:: canonD30 : friends : sheila : |
the rest of the portraits we shot at sheila and rose's birthday celebration. for me, this was a step into shooting people. overall the lighting was a little low so the exposures were long and there are some instances of blurring and movement, but I think they came out ok and make a nice series.

my friend Michelle Chappel recently completed her latest CD and is performing around the bay area to promote it. It's great stuff. I went to see her this evening down at the Barnes and Nobles in San Jose. Check her out, listen to the samples and buy her CD!

When IAs Commune Over Dinner :: 06.14.02 |
:: friends : sipix : |
Earlier this month I had dinner with a bunch of friends in the city. I tried out my new little SiPix digital camera. It doesn't work too well inside in really low candlelight, but I liked the effect of these shots any way.

We Like to Party! :: 05.28.02 |
:: canonD30 : digital elph : friends : |
In celebration of Sheila's graduation and Memorial day, we held a big backyard party barbecue. Lots of people came, some didn't (we missed you all) and Sheila's band played. The band - Lost Chihuahua, was very good and the guests sang and danced. There was a pinata and pool action. Lots of margaritas - can you say tequila! - beer and sodas consumed. Dad played grill meister and old family friends drove into town to celebrate with us too.

Thanksgiving Fun :: 11.24.01 |
:: friends : |
Low key Thanksgiving day with friends and family. I cooked: chicken stuffed with stuffing and cranberries and cashews, nonchicken stuffing with cranberries and cashews, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, salad, bread, cranberry-jalepeno relish and a cashew veggie paella for the three vegetarians at the table. We had a lot of pie afterwards and danced to latin and cuban music. This shot - taken by Tripura - shows all of us after dinner, enjoying the company. (from left: Rose, Sheila, Tripura, Me and in front: Om)
Yesterday, Sheila and I rode 22 miles out at Coyote Creek to work off some of the pie.

20 Year High School Reunion::Pictures :: 11.11.01 |
:: friends : |
Finally - my pics are back from my reunion. Looking over them, I realize I only took advantage of a few photo opportunities. I missed getting John Kudlinski, Norm Gomlak, all of us Madrigals who were there and others on film. Other people took photos of me with some of them but I don't have them on my camera. But they are fun to see - mostly when Virginia, Karen and I got together and reminisced about high school and the time we went to NYC when we were 19. We stayed at the famous Chelsea hotel in Chelsea and dealt with mice in our room, interesting art instructors down the hall and other adventures that involved three 19 year old girls in NYC with clubs and alcohol.

Exploring Weblogs :: 09.30.00 |
:: friends : |
I have been exploring the web, in some ways as earnestly and naively, as I used to do when I first discovered the internet back in 1994. I have moved into the realm of personal weblogs, which I find extremely fascinating. This becomes most interesting if you look at the two sides of this. Several sites I have perused are by people I know. The weblogs offer an insight into their psyche and personality that, perhaps, would never be exposed in daily conversations.
The second type are random connections found by jumping from one hyperlink to another and settling down on something interesting. Not everyone's life is interesting to me, just as I am sure my ramblings and my site are incredibly boring to some out there.
I find the log phenomenon quite incredible. Just as we were all interested in the works of Anais Nin, the immediacy of the web log is, in some ways more compelling. The Anais Nin Diaries, I think are interesting to so many because they were so ahead of their time, both as intimate views of her life with so many persuasive figures of the time as well as their exploration of the sexual needs and desires of a woman.
Some of the places I visit frequently (I leave it to you to figure out who I know and who I don't):
debsue.com
Jezebel... A site for sore eyes
Peterme.com
Justin's Links
