A little fun from this summer.

Back in January I had some images on the site from the Bottle Cube. Bryce Glass, one of my coworkers and featured in the stills, has just launched his blog - with full motion video showcasing diving exploits from the Bottle Cube.

We had a partial solar eclipse on Monday. We all went out to check it out and punched holes in paper to look at what was happening without blasting our eyes out. It was pretty unimpressive until someone noticed that the leaves of the trees were casting little moon shaped openings around the shadows on the walls of the building. The result is captured here.

Went bowling friday night at one of those places that is all blacklight and dayglo. Rock and roll blaring and 9 of us bowling. Was lots of fun to bowl, to experiment with the digital camera and just to hang out.

Just got my photos back from our company holiday party - held at the end of January. I took the Lomo and am pleasantly surprised with most of the images. There are some stripy things going on so the quality isn't that great on the darkest images - but the fact that none of these indoor shots were taken with a flash, leads me to want to explore getting a new one of these cameras. The party was fun and one of the highlights was the Extra Action Marching Band from Oakland. They were cool. They were crazy.

First shots with the new Lomo that I got off eBay. It seems to be ok - lens and insides are dirty requiring some cleaning out and some of the images have some ghosting issues. I like the way the images look onscreen but was not impressed with Wolf Camera's processing. They tried to correct the images and took out the super saturation that the camera does naturally. These are mostly Maggie, Seymour and the chickens at work.

the bottle cube at work is a closed cube that has been filled (2 feet or so) with empty Aquafina bottles. Fun times had by all as team members dove, swam and sank in the experience. (shot with pencam)

It was great fun for all, good for team building and super for ringing in the holiday season on a light note. Particularly for this year.

Lunch today at a chinese restaurant. A nice change from the Thanksgiving leftovers. Took some Pencam shots to record the event and stitched them together to capture everyone. This is the month of reunions. Went to a Zip2 reunion last night. Was great seeing everyone again. These people were so much fun to work with and we did so much in a short amount of time. That time - 1997 - 1999 was definitely magic, the money was flowing and everyone was an optimist. We built some great products and made some money. Caught up with lots of old friends. Will post some pics this weekend.

My high school (20 yr) reunion is in 14 days. Yikes!

I was cleaning up my hard drive this weekend and discovered attachments to email and loose images floating around. Opening them up, I discovered a bunch of images documenting some of the people on my team at AltaVista. They date back to when James Young was Creative Director (early 1999 - before I took over from him) and he left to freelance and we had a goodbye lunch at Chevy's. Ryan Sims is in this pic - he went on to work for Peter Merholz at epinions - back before I had ever heard of him. I am not exactly sure when the rest of the images were shot (sometime in 2000) - I know not all were shot by me, since I am in one - but they are fun for reminiscing. The single designer image was sent to all of us who were let go in January 2001, by the lone remaining designer. He is having lunch at our lunch/work table.

Happily - we have all gone on to other interesting and challenging things with new people and new teams, but we still keep in touch.

Firedrills at work remind me of school. Everyone is glad for the break but is kind of bored standing around waiting. As always I had the Pencam on me and snapped a few.

I like the fact that most of us are not really very near the offical "Assembly Area" red dot. But we did all have to check in. Some people (Vitaly and Rob) took the evac very seriously and proceeded to play game of chess. Ernestine (the dog) was very concerned.
