Erin,
I went to your web site to see the party action. Then I saw that Maggie passed away. I'm so sorry. I'll tell Mary tonight.
Pets are companions, but even more than that. They can sense your emotions and are always there for you and vica versa.
Our cat of 18 years almost had to be put down two weeks ago. I took her to the vet Monday morning with the notion of putting her down. She had not eaten in 5 days and was having kidney failure. The vet convinced me to hydrate her and he gave her a few shots. She bounced back, but I know it's simply a matter of time.
I've accepted the fact that we are going to have to put her down someday, but as with Maggie, she has been my companion here at home.
I'm so sorry about Maggie. I'll look at the party pictures later.
Love,
Uncle John

Oh no! Erin, I'm so sorry to hear about Maggie. I know what a sweet, special doggie she's been for you. My regrets, but I'm glad she had a long and happy life.

I'm sorry about your dog passing away. Maggie looked and sounded like a damn cool dog.

I don't know you (and vice-versa). I found your site through the MT list of recently updated "blogs". I'm so sorry to hear about Maggie. My boyfriend has always had German Shepherds. Max, the beautiful all-black "guy" he had when I first started seeing him, died at the end of January 2000. One week later we found another one, also named Max, through an internet rescue site. He was a punk ... a thug ... a real wrong-side-of-the-tracks kind of Max. But we thought it was too sad to keep that name, so I tried prefixing "ax" with every letter of the alphabet to find a new name. When I came to "T", I knew we'd found it. So now we have "Tax" -- or "Taxi" as he's really known. In the 2-1/2 years that we've had him, he's changed from a wary, scared, abandoned juvenile delinquent ... into a loving, devoted, intensely affectionate best friend.
Don't know why I just wrote all of this. I just really wanted you to know that even though I don't know you, I can definitely feel your loss, and my heart is with you.

We are sad, but she's not in pain anymore. We all loved her. Love.

Erin, really sad to read this. I'm finally getting a chance to catch up on your site and saw your pic with her.
I won't forget that time I was working in your home office and she would just plop herself by your feet...and how I had to hop over her to get to the bathroom.
Take care, Lisa

My dog died on Monday (7/1). Her name was Toto. Like the wizard of oz. I had had her for 17 years. She was a cocker spaniel and poodle mix. I know how it feels. It's pretty bad. Everywhere I look I always think my dog is going to be there and I always think I hear her. There isn't any way to get her back. I have a feeling I'll get another dog before long.
I've never been to your site before. Looks pretty neat. I'll be back to browse around. Thanks.

Losing a pet is a hard thing to go through. You don't truly embrace their companionship until they are gone.

Very sorry to hear about Maggie. I got tears in my eyes when I saw your picture, and read your tribute. Max is now 15, and Sam is now 12 or 13, (her exact age is unknown,) so I know it's only matter of time for them. I dread the day they will pass. It truly is like losing a child.

Hi Erin
I know what it feels like, a few years ago I had to put my Max down as he had cancer. Dogs are great friends, i was thinking the other day of the dogs i and my family have had and realised that dogs are Buddhists, full of unconditional love, you can be in a family of 1 or 10 and the dog has enough love for all with some left over.

Hi Erin,
I realise that this is about 8 months after the
fact but I have to say that I went through the
same thing as you did with Maggie. I went through
it way back in 1960 when I was about 7 yrs old and
the dog (named Rocky) was my Dad's police(RCMP)dog
and was the(mostly me)family pet. He lived to the
ripe old age of 12 or 13 years and he was a German
Shepard and the 5th photo in your series just stopped me....from what I remember of Rocky that
look of Maggie in the 5th photo just brought the
memories flooding back so I just wanted to say;
'Thanks for the memories'....jeez, now I'm even
starting to tear up.
Cheers,

I had a doggie called Maggie as well. She was part German Shepherd, part many other things. She was lovely but died of snail bait poisoning from the neighbour's garden. It was very sad.

Erin:
I stumbled upon your site today. I am so sorry to hear about Maggie. She was a very special dog. Sandie and I lost Kayla last month. It is strange how empty the house seems now.
