(click to popup a larger version) a panorama I spliced together of the Eureka Dunes in the northern part of Death Valley. This is shot from about a mile away. I spent the better part of last week there exploring the desert, shooting with the 1ds camera and 4w driving on really cool roads. As usual, not enough time - midday isn't the best time to visit the dunes for shooting. More images to come this weekend.

i start my new job at Yahoo! tomorrow. i am really looking forward to it.

a few new shots of the poppies with a new macro lens. the old one wouldn't stay in focus and my images were always a tiny bit soft. this one is crisp and I am having fun exploring the depth of field with it. a couple more of these and then pics from my recently completed trip to death valley in the new touareg!

today was the first day not at AOL. my team roasted me last night for a going away gathering. it was hysterical and super touching and meant so much to me. geez guys, i am going to miss you so much. too bad i won't be hiring in my new gig... ;-)

today is my last day at AOL. Almost 3 years to the day from when I started. It feels like many more years than that because of all the reorgs, the different divisions and the many bosses I have had. Actually the last 2+ years, I really only had 2 bosses with a couple of brief moments reporting directly to VPs.

But knowing that doesn’t necessarily make today any easier. So long running man. So long aol email address. New AIM name for folks to find me after today.

More pictures from my recent trip to Austin. Unfortunately it was not for SXSW - which I will get to someday. I keep saying that, just like I will go to Burning Man someday. Despite that, the IA Summit was a good excuse to gather with friends and aquaintances and run around the city eating barbecue and having cocktails (summit pics coming soon).

I am now one week away from leaving AOL. I gave notice last week and next Thursday is my last day. It's kind of weird - the first time in a long time where I am quitting to go onto something new. I will be at Yahoo by the end of the month and am looking forward to the new challenges and new problems to solve.
