the flowers in the late afternoon in my garden remind me that today is the last day of august—which generally signals the end of summer. even though I am long out of school, I still feel wistful for the long summer days and even though I am in California, I am looking forward to the fall—which really won’t arrive here until January. I am looking forwar to September and October. Good things always happen then.

i love flying and looking down over the land as the airplane crosses. i like to wonder about the patterns and what kind of people made the farms down below and what kind of lives they lead. i love it when i am coming home and i can begin to pick out areas that i know and find my house. the view from above is so interesting, no matter whether its over the clouds, the farms, mountains or my own house. (these pics shot coming home from dulles thursday evening and with my new mega pencam - still working out the kinks with the adjustable lens)

Sheila in a snorkle. Don't ask why

For my birthday celebration we cooked out on the grill and close friends and family came over. Dad made an awesome DVD - "This is your life" for me with pics from my life and movies from when I was a kid and lots of my artwork and photos. Made me cry. I got a new fisheye lens for the camera and took a few shots.
