Biking :: 11.27.01 :: biking :

Always remember to wear your helmut and stay on the right side of the road. Biked today after lunch (15.5 miles) and managed to get hit by a car. I am ok - didn't even fall off the bike, but my bike is whacked. Either the back tire is not round anymore or my frame is bent. I am not happy. And the guy didn't look both ways before pulling out of the parking lot. geez. you are supposed to look both ways even when turning right - I would have been hit if I had been a pedestrian in the sidewalk, as it was I was on the bike almost past him when he ran right into me. I don't know how he didn't see me since I was almost past the car - in front of his face. stupid ass.

ok - I think I am done sulking.

Chinese Lunch :: 11.26.01 :: coworkers pencam :

Lunch today at a chinese restaurant. A nice change from the Thanksgiving leftovers. Took some Pencam shots to record the event and stitched them together to capture everyone. I am reflected a couple of times in the mirror. From left to right: Matt Leacock, Jennifer Cherk, Rich Fulcher, Rob Starling and Bradley Allen.

Thanksgiving Fun :: :: friends :

Low key Thanksgiving day with friends and family. I cooked: chicken stuffed with stuffing and cranberries and cashews, nonchicken stuffing with cranberries and cashews, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, salad, bread, cranberry-jalepeno relish and a cashew veggie paella for the three vegetarians at the table. We had a lot of pie afterwards and danced to latin and cuban music. This shot - taken by Tripura - shows all of us after dinner, enjoying the company. (from left: Rose, Sheila, Tripura, Me and in front: Om)

Yesterday, Sheila and I rode 22 miles out at Coyote Creek to work off some of the pie.

Internet Addict? :: 11.21.01 :: gadgets :

I am 64% ADDICTED TO THE INTERNET.

I am pretty addicted, but there is hope. I think I'm just well connected to the internet and technology, but it's really a start of a drug-like addiction. I must act now! Unplug this computer!

Some Advantages :: 11.15.01 :: my job :

There are some definite positive advantages to working for AOL, being in Dulles on business this week and being involved with the Community team.

Just got back from a special AOL Screening of Harry Potter. Cool stuff. It's going to be a hit. Lots of clapping and cheering for all the AOL Time Warner previews before the movie. The kids in the audience seemed engaged, but the adults laughed the most throughout.

20 Year High School Reunion::Pictures :: 11.11.01 :: friends :

Finally - my pics are back from my reunion. Looking over them, I realize I only took advantage of a few photo opportunities. I missed getting John Kudlinski, Norm Gomlak, all of us Madrigals who were there and others on film. Other people took photos of me with some of them but I don't have them on my camera. But they are fun to see - mostly when Virginia, Karen and I got together and reminisced about high school and the time we went to NYC when we were 19. We stayed at the famous Chelsea hotel in Chelsea and dealt with mice in our room, interesting art instructors down the hall and other adventures that involved three 19 year old girls in NYC with clubs and alcohol.

Coyote Creek in the Rain :: :: biking pencam :

Biking Coyote Creek trail yesterday in the rain was fun. No people and an intensity to the landscape with the grey sky. A little rain - not to much so I wasn't too wet. First time out there by myself. At the end there were a bunch of gravel trails and horse trails, so I explored them a bit. Must have been some of the old outbuildings from when this was a farm - now used to store equipment for the park rangers.

Dick Hungry Whore :: 11.10.01 :: canonD30 sheila :

Sheila's pre-thesis show was this past week. We busted butt last weekend helping her get ready. I designed her postcard and posters. The reception was a hit - tons of people coming into the gallery. Well - see for yourself.

Playing a bit with the macro lens on the Canon. Caught up with this butterfly checking out the Mexican Sage. It let me get about 6 inches away before flying off. Haven't been able to catch the hummingbirds yet.

Almost Moved Over to Moveable Type :: 11. 6.01 :: my site :

I have moved all my files over to Moveable Type and am now in the process of re-entering all my entries - by hand. I am into September - going backwards and have done all the early Blogger posts from before June - so just a couple of months missing.

I will have to add the comments back in by hand since I was not able to get Greymatter working right again. Bummer.

greyMatter is $#@^$@& :: 11. 5.01 :: my site :
GreyMatter seems to have gone on strike and is having cgi problems. I didn't change anything, but the software seems to have stopped working and I can't rebuild or alter my files. This also means that Comments and Karma are busted and serve up server errors.

I was about to convert all to Movable type - but since I can't rebuild, I will have to move everything over by hand. Luckily - it's only 51 entries.

So until this is ported - read new entries here.

Biking this Weekend :: 11. 4.01 :: biking pencam :

Went out for a relatively short ride on Saturday (13.5 miles) along the Los Gatos Creek Trail. It was the first time I had been on the trail with my new speedometer/odometer so I was able to see how far it really is. There were a lot of geese in the way at the lake area near the 17/85 interchange. When I was done I snapped a few pics of me in the side mirror. The last one turned out cool because I caught the reflection of the mirror in the window.

Sunday we went for a long ride out at Coyote Creek (18.2 miles). No pics here - too concerned with a hard workout and maintaining an above 15mph speed despite the mountain bike tires. As usual, Sheila was long gone and I rode by myself. Gotta get a new bike. It was foggy and cold when we started, but it probably was the reason why I saw a bobcat. Very cool. At first I thought it was a dog, then I realized it was a cat - a large cat with orange and tan and black stripes. Much bigger than a house cat, with a bobbed tail and big feet. I wanted to snap a picture, but I wasn't close enough for the PenCam and I ddin't want to scare it or provoke it.

It was a great ride and I am sore in my legs for the first time in awhile.
