Testing something new :: 08.29.01 :: my site :

haleakala swirlsTesting out a new way to implement my photo albums. The greymatter popup links generate way too many html files to keep track of down the line. In addition, there is no sense of next and previous in a series. So here is a mini-test using javascript and some of my images from my trip last year to hawaii. All these images, with captions can be found in my travels area. Click on the thumbnail to launch the album.

Sharks Galore :: 08.23.01 :: pencam sharks :

Some more sharks from the 100 or so scattered around San Jose downtown. I rode my bike downtown and snapped a few around the tech museum and the pedestrian walkway. They are very cool. I am looking to capture as many as possible.

Trip out to Dulles Virginia :: 08.18.01 :: pencam travel :

Spent this past week in Dulles, Virginia on business. Basically visiting the mother ship of AOL. Some pics of my trip are posted. All were shot with the Pencam. The highlight was a meandering drive out to where I used to live in Loudoun County.

San Jose Jazz Festival :: 08.12.01 :: canonD30 music :
Eric SardinasThis afternoon we went over to the San Jose Jazz Festival. We started at the Main Stage but it was so crowded we decided to move along to another stage. There were 8 in all. The next one we tried - the Women in Jazz stage, was an indoor venue and was also too crowded. So we decided to keep going to the Blues stage. This is where we ended up staying for the rest of the evening.

Birthday+ Pencam Pics :: 08.11.01 :: pencam :

Pony Ride at the Car WashMy birthday was this week and I am feeling rather old. Mostly because I am getting old and some because my 20 year high school reunion is around the corner. Yikes! Birthday was celebrated over the course of several days. Cowboy Junkies at the Mountain Winery on friday evening and then getting my car washed on my actual birthday - the 8th, eating sushi in Santa Cruz and visiting with friends. Took some Pencam pics of my day plus coffee this morning.

Low key weekend :: 08. 5.01 :: life :

Spent a low key weekend. Sheila took me to see Cowboy Junkies for an early birthday present Friday evening. Another great concert at the Mountain Winery. They were excellent, and the evening was only marred by a trio of women behind us who had a running commentary through the whole evening. Being a non-confrontational type of person, I didn't smack them. But I wanted to. Especially during all the songs where the one girl kept saying "this song is my favorite", "Margot is so coooool", and then she would sing along. Normally that's ok, but the Cowboy Junkies are so mellow, it wasn't cool.

Saturday was spent at my friend Natasha's house. She just had a baby (4 months ago) and they had a bunch of friends (11 of us) over for barbecue and a rousing round of Cranium. I know this game has been around awhile - I have seen it at Starbucks for years. But I had never played and I am wondering why. It was a blast. All the games you are familiar with rolled into one (pictionary, charades, trivial pursuit, word problems, logic problems, sculpture, singing, improv, etc), with some twists. I don't know if this is old hat for everyone and I have been under a log, but I feel like I just discovered a hidden world. Anyway it was great fun, met some neat new people and was able to visit with old friends and play with the baby. If you want to buy it (or anything else) for me, my birthday is this coming Wednesday.

Spent Sunday catching up on house type stuff and scouring ebay for accessories for the new camera. Still have some outstanding auctions, but it looks like I will have some new filters to play with. Am planning a trip back east week after next, so look for some new photos.
