Spent this past week in Dulles, Virginia on business. Basically visiting the mother ship of AOL. Some pics of my trip are posted. All were shot with the Pencam. The highlight was a meandering drive out to where I used to live in Loudoun County.
I drove out west from Dulles, to Leesburg, Va then turned south down Rte 15. About 8 miles south, I turned west again onto Rte 50 towards Middleburg. This road winds and goes up and down rolling hills out to the rich tapestry of Loudoun horse country. The road passes a ton of Virginia wineries and horse farms. Once in Middleburg, I turned right down a little two lane road, past the barn apartment I used to live in, past the Middleburg steeplechase courses and fox hunt out into the rolling hills. Most of the pics here are from this later part of the drive. The road twists and turns as it hugs the large estates and hills. There were several more turns and eventually I ended up on an unpaved road northeast of Belmont. This parallels a creek and it was misty and moist after the afternoon rain. I eventually ended up back out on Rte. 15 just a little south of Leesburg. With all the changes and growth in the area, it was nice to experience a little bit of familiar territory. Some things had not changed at all.
